Welcome to the DOH! Network — The Official Website of Johnny Leche.

I may have figured out the virtual host issue preventing games.dohnetwork.com from going to the game servers page. I think I have to wait for the DNS to update so maybe it will work tomorrow. The issue might have been that the DOH! Network ServerAlias was set to *.dohnetwork.com and was probably overriding all the other urls. QuakePark.com's name server setup was not what it use to be. Did some changes to that so maybe that will work too. Bonus!

In other news, there are a lot of errors in the logs and I keep thinking I'm going to remake the site but only do a little and burn out. Maybe I should blow everything out and just put the bare minimum and then start building that up as I think of things to do. Hmmm...

Finally a CertBot command that updates the DOH! Network certificates thanks to CyberCiti 'How to forcefully renew Let's Encrypt certificate' FAQ. Down in the 'Renewing the LetsEncrypt certificate using the certbot' section, certbot renew --force-renewal returned a success message and refreshing the page returned a secure page. I may need to update the crontab rule I added a couple of days ago to this.

Just in time for Overwatch 2: Invasion, free to play Overwatch 2 is officially coming to Steam! This may be an attempt by Blizzard to entice players to come back to the game as interest in the game has been struggling since the announced cancellation of the PvE co-op mode in May that everybody is all upset about. I lost interest when the game changed the core dynamics of the game and added those too large push the bot maps. The new characters create too much noise on the screen with growing trees and constructing buildings. I may return to Overwatch when they launch Overwatch Classic with 6 on 6 team focused matches that don't include characters after Echo. Fingers crossed that happens.

This may also be the last season of the Overwatch League as well with number of viewers falling and recent layoffs. Dexerto has a good article explaining the Overwatch situation in more detail.

CertBot sent me a reminder that it is time to update the certificates again so the site is secured. Since the virtual domains are not working, I ran certbot certonly --force-renew -d dohnetwork.com -d cdn.dohnetwork.com -d games.dohnetwork.com -d mail.dohnetwork.com -d webcam.dohnetwork.com -d www.dohnetwork.com.

I also tried adding 30 03 01 Jan,Apr,Jul,Oct * certbot renew -q to the root crontab based off the sample on Digital Ocean's 'How can I renew Let's Encrypt certificates?' page. Hopefully that doesn't break anything.

Happy 4th of July from all of us here at the DOH! Network.

Gaming buddy, Chip got me thinking Trackmania Nations Forever again. I was able to set up a DOH! Network Trackmania Nations server again. It has an issue where when you try to find the game in the World servers, the ip is a French one. I'm thinking it's a Nadeo ip. Trying to hard code the ip in the dedicated server config ends up breaking the p2p stuff that lets players see other players skins. Disabling that doesn't work either. It looks like to host a server of the latest version of Trackmania requires paying a monthly fee and I am anti-monthly fees. The Trackmania Nations version requires a sql database to store times and I don't remember setting that up before and I probably won't play it that often so I probably won't keep it running.

Overwatch 2: Invasion starts August 10. Check out the Overwatch 2: Invasion trailer. It will feature new Story Missions, a new PVP game mode, and a new support hero. Some streamers have been invited to try it out early and the word from them is 'it's fun but doesn't have a lot of replay value.' Invasion will be available to all players for a limited time but for unlimited access, you'll have to pay $15 or $40 depending on the bundle you purchase. I miss the original Overwatch. If they had stopped at Echo and released 2 as a new separate game, I would have been fine with that and still been playing Overwatch.
