The DOH! Network Call of Duty: United Offensive server is up and running. Look for it on the servers page. I just jumped into another server with like 35 players and it was pretty fun. The expansion pack has some crazy earth shaking explosions going on compared to the original Call of Duty. At times it was impossible to aim straight.

Check out Vince Neil's face lift surgery footage they can't show you on VH1.

Valve Software has released a demo for Half-Life 2. The demo requires a Steam account but I believe that's free and it lets you see if the game will even run on your system. You can get the game from just about any file download site like 3D Gamers. The demo comes in at about 750 megs and takes you through a couple of levels of the game.

Thanks to gm0ney for the link to the trailer for 'Sin City'. I saw a link yesterday but to see the trailer it wanted you to download some stupid AOL crap and I'll have none of that garbage on my computer. Check out the trailer as well as a trailer for 'The Longest Yard' on the Spiff Trailers page. I just linked straight to the mov file rather than try to embed it so you could right mouse click and 'Save As...' to your desktop because AOL's streaming server sucks and makes it hard to watch the trailer so better to save it and then watch it.

Shweet! The folks over at Activision released two new patches today. One for Call of Duty and one for the Call of Duty expansion pack, Call of Duty: United Offensive. For those of you with United Offensive on your Christmas list, you don't have to wait till next week for some new map action as the Call of Duty patch comes with the new map Tiger Town that supports all game types. The patch is full of bug fixes and some new features to make modding easier for mod makers. And if you don't know what Call of Duty is, shame on you. It's only the best World War II FPS out today! Check out the two demos for the original Call of Duty and one for Call of Duty: United Offensive over on 3D Gamers or your favorite file download site.

Check out the Spiff Movie Page for a bunch of new trailers like the new 'Batman Begins' trailer or the behind the scenes look at 'The Chronicles of Narnia'.

I just finished the Call of Duty: United Offensive single player demo. I played it on the hardest difficulty level and all I can say is make sure you save a lot. There is no pattern you can follow through the game to not get killed, The shots come from all directions and you will probably find yourself playing the same section over and over and over again. The same route you just ran ten times could end up being the way that gets you killed the next ten times. I admit that's kind of annoying but it just makes it when you win that much better. Plus it was the hardest level. If you are new to first person shooter (FPS), you can play on one of the three easier skill levels. Download the demo and check it out for yourself.

2004 Project Greenlight Screenplay Contest winner Marcus came by work today and we got to see five minutes of footage from his movie Feast that they just finished filming. The film will be in theaters in Spring 2005 and you can see all the hijinx that went into making it beginning in February or March on Bravo. What I saw today looked really good with lots of gore and violence and junk and this was only five minutes into the movie. And it's even got some big name talent in it too like Jason Mews of 'Jay and Silent Bob' fame and Henry Rollins although Jason doesn't last much more than... I better not say anymore. Don't want to ruin the movie for ya.

I tried the single player demos for Doom3 and Call of Duty: United Offensive over the weekend. Doom3 actually runs pretty smooth on 1.8 machine and even looks good at 640x480 resolution. I don't know why John Carmack spent so much time making the models look fantastic and then put the whole thing in the dark. How are you supposed to be awed by the incredible graphics when all you can see in-game is silhouettes? I'm not all the way through the demo yet and it's not sucking me in to want to play again. And for some reason the game gives me a headache when I play. I don't know if it's from trying to see what the heck I am shooting at in the dark or all the ambient noise and junk going on in the background. It just doesn't have the replay value of older id titles and then on top of that, the feature that put id software on the map, the mulitplayer mode is limited to four players max. This could be the title that made id Software jump the shark. They really need to do something big next time or they are gonna get left in the dust with all the competion they have now from companies like Epic and Valve.

I also checked out Call of Duty: United Offensive. I loved the original Call of Duty and this follow up is a great addition to the series. The graphics and physics aren't as high tech as the Doom3s and Half-Life2s out there but Quake 3 engine still shines. I think the single player replay value in this and the original is a lot better than say Castle Wolfenstein because it's stays true to the military theme all the way through too and doesn't go from a military battle to bizarre experiments and sci-fi. I will definitely be adding this title to my Christmas Wish List. Doom 3 I think I'll wait till I find it in the bargain bin.

Geez! I tell ya. It amazes me how 'some people' think 'other people' are the best and hardest workers but those 'other people' are as dumb as a post. They don't listen, they don't read anything, they take notes on the stupidest things but see #2 (they don't read so what's the point of writing it down?) and they can't remember anything you just told them. It just goes to show that 'some people' are just as dense as 'other people' and at least for me 'most people' see them for what they are and those people help me out when I need 'some people' and 'other people' to follow frikkin procedures, gadangit!! Hey! It's Muffin Friday at work tomorrow!! Woohoo!

Got a couple of quotes on the old Tempest game and it's required fixes. For about two bills I should be able to get it fixed. Or I could make two bills selling it to Shaka. I don't think I'd do that though because this game has been with me forever through thick and thin. It was there for me when all those girls wouldn't go out with me and I spent all those nights at home shooting Fuseballs and Pulsars to ease the pain. Uhhh... Did I mention it's Muffin Friday at work Tomorrow?

My Thanksgiving was spent is isolation with strep and a 107º fever. It actually started on Wednesday and most of the fever had burned off by the time I went to the Urgent Care and man did I smell from having sweat so much. Phew! I think it helped the medical team get me in and out of the office since they didn't want me stinkin' up the place. The quarantine part on Thanksgiving was because DairyQueen's family was over and I didn't want to spread my germs so I hid out and watched movies. Didn't have to do any food preparation though which was cool. had to do some cleanup though. That sucks. I was still sore from the illness up until just a couple of days ago. That one really worked me over.

The windows are in the server room/office and now I just need to do some work on the floor and then paint the whole thing and I will be able to move in but I have no motivation right now. Maybe after the new year I will take some time off but I am wishing I just forked out the extra ten gran at the time of purchase and had the room all built then. Thanks to Hooka for coming out and setting up all my networking. It looks like the wiring that was put in the house when it was built was Cat 5e because I can still pull gigabit speeds from the server downstairs to the gaming machine upstairs. Shweet!

I was talking to some of the DCon crew about retiring from the game scene. It's not a full retirement. I'd still be up for some LAN action but I don't think I'll be playing any of the hot new titles for a long time. I don't have the urge to play any of my current games so the need to upgrade my computer to play some of these fancy new games is just not there. Plus some of these older games still have a lot of replay value. Quake 2 with the Mutually Assured Destruction mod is always good for some laughs and I'm still determined to get those assmonkeys to play Enemy Territory. But as far as the cutting edge new games, I tried the Doom 3 demo and it gave me a headache. I'll wait till I see it in the bargain bin.
