DairyQueen gave me a new DVD burner for the computer yesterday. I tried reinstalling Battlefield 2142 with it and it worked. I still got a bunch of corrupt files on install but the patches that have been released overwrite a lot of those messed up files so hopefully I can play it without it locking up. I just need to download a 300 meg patch for it. There goes all that free space I got the other day from deleting a bunch of games I have finished.
My new team at work is a big mess. We're supposed to have all these tools to help us get things done but only some of the stuff is in one tool and the other stuff is done a different way. And I don't mean 'this site works this way and this site works this way' I'm talking 'half this page works this way and the other half works this way'. There is so much stuff spread all over the place that things are getting broken or forgotten. Plus as an added bonus, one site needs to be updated at 5pm and 7pm on Saturdays so both versions have to go through testing in the same location so the 5pm version gets sent to testing and once approved the 7pm version gets dropped on top of it and tested and then when that's approved, the 5pm version gets dropped back in and set to go live and then the 7pm version gets put in another location in the hopes that it will go live automatically and hopefully one version's updates don't end up going with the other's.
It looks like people in my neighborhood think the 4th of July falls on July 5th. There's more fireworks going off tonight than there were yesterday.
I gave up on trying to resurrect all my old computers and just ganked all the hard drives out and put them in my server and main computer. I still don't have any space. How the heck do you fill a half a terabyte so fast?
DOH! If it's not one thing it's another. Two weeks ago the server crashed and this week it was the gaming machine. I was able to reinstall Windows without losing any important data so that's cool but I have to reinstall all my programs. Luckily they are all on the server where I can get to them instead of having to ind all my cds.
