The supermarkets have started their big yearly contest based on a popular board game about making money. DairyQueen came home with some game pieces so I had to check if we had any winners. So far, nothing but I did update the app I built last year for keeping track of what pieces I have. It makes it a little easier than trying to find and read all those numbers on the official game board at least for me. If you want to check it out, check out the Piece Keeper. Some improvements to last years version include...
The prizes are listed in each block along with the number available for each.
A block will light up if you have all of the pieces required for that prize so it is easier to see you have a winner.
Some behind the scenes fixes to make it easier to update for next year's edition not that you would need to see the previous year after that cotnest has expired.
Another feature I would like to implement would be to add your saved pieces to a database so you could retrieve them on other computers. Currently, it saves your selections to local storage so your pieces are only viewable on the browser where you selected them and they can be reset if you clear your cache.
As part of the agreement when selling the previous DOH! Network facilities was that we include our almost new LG refrigerator. The fridge was only a year or two old. Actually, I wasn't sad to see it go as it had issues with the ice jamming in the in-door ice dispenser every couple of days. I thought it might have something to do with the fact that the ice maker made square cubes. The previous Kenmore fridge made crescent cubes and never had that issue. Sadly, when looking for fridges, LG has some of the better features without spending a ton of money. I don't like fridges that have the ice maker taking half of the top shelf in the fridge. In-door ice makers are much more convenient in my opinion. I also prefer fridges with the freezer on the bottom. Luckily, we were able to find a newer model LG that makes crescent cubes and I can report in the 3 months we have had it, I have never had to clear any ice blockages and while the ice maker is smaller than the one we had in our Kenmore, I haven't run out of ice yet. That may change if we have company visiting for an extended period during the summer but we can always fill the bucket in the freezer before then. TLDR: If you are looking for a new refrigerator, make sure it makes crescent cubes and not square ones.
