Just watched The Bourne Identity. Pretty good movie though Dairy Queen thought it was kinda gory at parts. It got me all fired up to go shoot something and wouldn't ya know there were like six players in the Deathcon Soldier of Fortune II server. I jumped in for a bit even although my joystick is messed up. I did pretty well considering I can't always move to the right and from time to time I can't move forward either. Who knows when I will get my replacement joystick because my great warranty from Not So Great Buy had me call today to get a return voucher that will be sent to me in ten to sixteen days and then I have to pack that up with my joystick and send them all back and then they will send me back the actual voucher that I can then take to the store to get my replacement stick. So I'm looking at two weeks at least with a busted joystick then probably another three weeks waiting on the voucher and then with my luck, I will get the voucher in the mail the day before Christmas but I won't get the mail till after the store is closed and then the store will be closed all day Christmas day so I won't get it till the next day and then the store will be packed and I'll be stuck in a line for two hours. Anyway, SoF2 was fun.
Woot! Wolfenstein Wednesday in da houzzzzzz! After playing the Call of Duty demos I was all fired up for some World War II action so I booted up the DeathconEnemy Territory server. Played a couple of rounds that were fun but my joystick blew a spring and so I couldn't move to the right. Made it a real challenge trying to navigate the caverns of the Fuel Depot and the buildings in The Old City map. Luckily I got the 2-year warranty but the joystick is only like 6 months old. Doh! Is Best Buy open on Thanksgiving day? I know I don't want to be there on Friday with the Day After Thanksgiving sales. I may be out of FPS comission for a couple of days.
Super Duper Trailer Friday!!! Woohoo! Check out the trailer for Hellboy from director Guillermo del Toro. This movie is looking really reaaaaallllly cool. Sadly the clip is only available in Windows Media Player and Real formats. (thanks Mrblue365R)
Battlefield 1942 players on the Deathcon server can now use the BF1942 Live page to see who's playing. Also as an added bonus, I made a cookie set so you can choose one of three colors for the page.
Harry Potter fans can check out the new teaser for the next chapter in the series, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban on the official HP site. (movie-page.com)
I just checked out The Matrix: Revolutions at the local IMAX® today. It was ok. Not great. I don't think I'll be ordering the 3-pack box set when it becomes available. The CG was incredible but it's not something my collection needs. I'd take it if it was given to me I suppose but it's not something I would go out looking for and there's a lot of other things I would like to get before that. I'm quite happy with my original Matrix DVD only. The IMAX experience wasn't all that great either. It costs more than a regular movie ticket and you don't get any trailers. What's up with that? I gots to have ma trailers!
Not really a trailer, this Polar Express clip is more a teaser to get you warmed up for the Tom Hanks/Robert Zemeckis movie due in theaters November 2004.
Version .5 of the Desert Combat mod for Battlefield 1942 should be out tomorrow. Keep an eye out for a couple of the Deathcon crew hanging out on the official server tomorrow night because we are a bunch of computer nerds with nothing better to do on a Friday night than sit around playing videogames.
DESERT COMBAT UPDATE: I was just surfing around the Desert Combat site and v.5 is now available for download. I'm currently waiting in line to download the dedicated Linux server so it should be up and running tomorrow night. For all the details of the new version, check out the official site. There's also links to mirror sites at the bottom to download the Windows client file.
Man, it's been a good week for movie trailers this week. Check out a couple of new ones that are coming soon to a theater near you.
Billabong Odyssey -- Hitting theaters tomorrow, Billabong Odyssey is a surfing documentary covering a contest to see who can ride the biggest wave ever. Insane!
Also saw Dreamworks has the Shrek 2 trailer online. This one looks kinda iffy. It can probably pull off better box office numbers than the original but the trailer looks like kind of confused with no real storyline. (thanks Mrblue365R)
I was gonna play the Silent Hill 3 demo but it's too creepy. I think I will wait till daytime to play it.
If you didn't go see The Matrix: Revolutions today, here's a new trailer to get your jonse on.
Is it Super Trailer Tuesday again already? Sure is. Check out Thomas Jane as The Punisher courtesy of QuickTime.
The Deathcon Desert Combat server has been updated with version 1.5 of Battlefield 1942. You will need the update courtesy of 3dgamers.com to get in as well as an update to the Invasion of the Philippines that you can get here. To call a vote for the new map, hit tilde(~) and type vm 9 twice.
The QuickTime trailer site has some behind-the-scenes stuff for Russell Crowe's Master and Commander that is pretty cool. Check it out here.
I saw a trailer for The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra a couple of weeks ago and didn't think much of it but now I just saw the trailer for Die Mommie Die and I'm really like what the heck now.
