What the heck?! Is my house built on an ancient battery graveyard or something? All my electronic devices are falling apart around me. Latest victim seems to be my Netgear router that I use as a switch between my server and my main computer. Actually I shouldn't say it's my router because even without the router in the mix, my main computer can't talk to my backup machine using a plain switch. My main machine can see the server and the server can see my main machine but neither can see my backup machine. There was a while there when the backup machine could see the main machine but could not view any of the shared folders but I soon fixed that so it couldn't even see it. I bet it's XP that's screwing everything up.
Super Trailer Tuesday! Check out the trailer for Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson as Starsky and Hutch. (CHUD)
Check out a preview of Pixar's next short film, Boundin'.
Tim Sweeney of Epic Games announced that Unreal Tournament 2003 and Unreal Tournament 2004 would not be network compatible after all. So UT2003 owners will not be able to play on 2004 servers and 2004 owners will not be able to play on 2003 servers. Nice. That's another 50+ bucks they're trying to get outta my pocket. (Action Trip)
Ack! What news today? Ummmm... Finished Call of Duty over the weekend. What a great game. At least the single player part was. Personally, I don't really care for the multiplayer part. It's too much like all the other games out there. I would much rather play Soldier of Fortune II with more weapons and a little bit faster pace. Although my stats for this month have been kinda below what they use to be for SoF2. I blame it on too much Desert Combat.
The DOH! Network e-cards have been updated to a full page with the option to disable the special effects and junk. NOPAL also sent along a spiff new card just in time for Valentine's Day. Check it out here.
The trailer for Van Helsing is officially live. Check it out on QuickTime.com.
Judging by my stats on the Deathcon Soldier of Fortune II server, I need some practice. My optical mouse is starting to freak out on me in games now too. That figures. It seems like all the electronic items in my house are breaking lately. Hmmm.
Atari has released a trailer for episode 1 of their live action shorts they plan to release to promote the newest edition of Driver, only the greatest driving game ever made. You can check out the trailer for 'Run The Gauntlet' on the official Driv3r site (Click the icon on the lower left). 'Run The Gauntlet' is a Ridley Scott Associates production so it should be good. The teaser trailer kinda reminds me of those BMW ads from like two years ago without all the BMWs and stuff.
Slow news day today. just got over being really sick yesterday. Check out a trailer or two.
Woohoo! Just got a letter from my cable company today and they are adding Sci-Fi and Comedy Central to my package. I said package.
Even more good news, I got a letter from the Post Office saying that they are moving the mail box closer to my house*. How close? Like right out front. Shweet!
* It's one of those community ones with like 12 residences mailboxes in one.
In other news, I don't think my surge suppressor on my computer works very well because I came in to turn on the computer and the static zap I got when I reached for the light switch was enough to light up my USB hub.
Not much to report today. been messing around with some PHP code for the wepage and added a counter back on the site on the lower left. I wish I knew how many hits I had since I started this site in 1998 I think it was. I was closing in on 10,000 hits when I switched from Earthlink and Direct TV DSL and the counter code was an Earthlink thing. I had a counter for a while during the Direct TV era but it was always freaking out and would stop working so it only lasted about a month at most. This new one is totally separate from the homepage and is pulled in from a PHP command so it should be more reliable.
I've received a couple of viruses in e-mails in the last couple of days. Not to worry though. I don't open or run anything somebody I don't know sends me so the virus didn't have a chance to do anything. But I thought I'd pass on the warning to everybody else. Don't even look at e-mails if you don't know who they are from. Check out this page on the Torvil virus I received and you can see what kinds of subjects people use to lure you into looking at their attachments. The E-mail came with a message that looks like it was directed at me personally so I'm wondering if it's the punkass kid I banned from the Deathcon Desert Combat server last week.
Happy New Year. Now let's check out some trailers.
Coming this summer is the true story of King Arthur. Not some made up one like the 'true story' of Hidalgo.
Check out Tom Hanks' new movie in the trailer for The Ladykillers. It's all in Flash so you will have to click the 'View Preview' button to get to it.
