Check out the official trailer for the newest from M. Night Shyamalan, 'The Village'. Looks like it's gonna be pretty good and scary.
The official Ghost In The Shell 2: Innocence site has been updated with a new international trailer that looks incredible with the mix of animation and CG.
Metallica fans can get a look behind the scenes of the band as they battle Napster and James Hetfield's drinking problem in Metallica: Some Kind of Monster.
The new Alien vs Predator featurette is now up on the QuickTime site. This one gives some info on some of the human cast in the movie but there's a bunch of new Alien/Predator clips in there. Check it out.
Ahhhh. Nothing like a clean install of Windows.
Activision has released the 1.4 patch for WWII first person shooter Call of Duty. The patch includes one new multi-player map and Punk Buster anti-cheat software as well as a bunch of fixes for some bugs. You can get the patch over on 3D Gamers. I had to download it from Australia because all the local servers are busy. the Deathcon and DOH! Network servers should be up and running shortly if there are no issues with the stand alone server. I noticed with the Windows client install i just did that some files were put in a folder with double slashes before the folder name and there was upper and lower case main folders. that may work on windows but Linux will not be having any sloppy coding like that.
There's not much going on today trailer-wise. At least nothing I think is really cool to mention.
If anybody has Tivo and reads this before The Osbournes tonight, the guy that gave me the name Johnny Leche is on it. There's a scene where Ozzy is shopping and he's in the produce section if you can tape it and get me a pic of the guy, I will post it here for all to see. Maybe do a 'The Origin of Leche' page or something.
Hey! Good news if you were following along on my struggle to remove that stupid dotcom search bar that would pop up every time i typed an URL wrong in my browser. I was messing around trying to fix the 'Client Unknown to Auth' bug when I try to join the DOH! Network server and somebody said to mess with my hosts file. I went in there and there was an extra line in there that I didn't add that looked like it was for Microsoft (I shoulda wrote it down so I could tell ya what it was). Anyway I removed it because it shouldn't have been in there and because I did, it fixed my dotcom toolbar problem.
LAN! LAN! LAN! Big news for everybody that's got a LAN jonse goin'! TweeTy of the now defunct ]I[ndy clan sent along word that NewEgg.com is hosting their 200 player LANfest2k4 April 24th and 25th at the Pasadena Convention Center. It's kind of late notice so you probably won't see and of the Deathcon crew gaming but maybe a couple of us will stop by to check out the scene. Get full details over on the official site.
Not to be outdone, Tribal Wars is hosting Tribal Wars 2004. It's east vs. west as 200 players in Virginia battle it out against 200 players in Los Angeles. I doubt you'll see any of the Deathcon crew there though as it's only Tribes2 for 4 days and it's 65 bucks to get in even if you're just spectating.
Got a couple of bonus trailers for the weekend. Check out a new trailer for the Ben Stiller/Vince Vaughn comedy, DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story.
A new featurette for I, Robot is now available for viewing over on QuickTime.com. Check it out here.
Didn't Anaconda die at the box ofice when it was released in 1997? I don't remember but somebody musta liked it since there's a trailer for Anaconda 2 or Anacondas: The Hunt For the Blood Orchid as it is officially titled over on Yahoo!
Congrats to Subotais and the Lil Troopers. Looks like both their offers on houses may have been accepted.
Hey! There's some people on the DOH! Network Call of Duty server. Maybe I'll jump in for a round or two. It's funny to think that if I reach over here on my left and hit the power button on the computer over here, I can kill all five of those guys at once. I HAVE THE POOOWEERRRRR!!! MUHAHAHAHAAHAA!!!!!
The Wolfenstein server is up for some old-school Wolfenstein action tonight. I have to look around and see if I can find that fix for the client unknown to auth bug so I can play too. Maybe I'll connect through the old server with the new IP. The map rotation is beach and tram and that's it because that's the only two maps that I know what the objective is. Check the server stats page to see who's on.
Just in time for May, the new Johnny Leche Cinco de Mayo e-card is now available to send to your friends. There's also a new get well soon card if you have a friend who's a little under the weather. Click here to go to the e-cards page.
The DOH! NetworkWolfenstein server is online again just in time for Wolfenstein Wednesday. The map rotation consists of the Beach map and the Tram map. New maps may be added to the rotation later but for now, that's it. Now I just need to figure out how I fixed the 'Client Unknown to Auth' bug a while ago on the Deathcon server so I can play too. Check the DOH! Network qStats page for a list of all the servers.
The countdown clock has been added to count down to the re-re-release of Tribes 2 in May. Soon you'll be able to play the full version of Tribes and Tribes 2 for FREE! Check out 3D Gamers' image gallery here or download the demo and start practicing.
Now to the trailers. Check it out while you can. A bootleg copy of the Catwoman trailer showed up over on Movie Web. The clip is really crummy quality but you can kinda figure out what's goin' on.
Grumpy Girl sent me this link the other day and I was facinated for hours by all the things the chicken could do. Subservient Chicken. Type in different tasks and he will do them. Some of my favorites are inchworm, turn off the lights, electric slide and roger rabbit.
For some really cool movies, check out 705. This is what I had hoped to achieve with my buddies when we were making our home movies all those years ago but my buddies didn't share my creative vision and so the movies didn't turn out as well as I had hoped. Some of the best movies are Three Card Studs, Beaverhead 3: The Hunting, and Rockstar Games' Upload III 2003 Short Subject Film winner, Skid Marks.
The official site for the DOH! Network was down overnight on Monday while SCE powered up a new transformer for a bunch of new homes near me and then after they turned the power back on, they noticed two failing switches. To make a long story short, the server will be down on Monday from 8am to 4pm. All DOH! mail will be out of service for the three people who use it. The site should be back up after I get home from work and turn on the server again.
The server's back up after a planned power outage while SCE brought a new transformer online overnight. Everything here at the DOH! Network should be back to business as usual.
Keep an eye out this Thursday as there may be an official Spider-man 2 trailer floating around.
Looks like it's time to reformat the old Windohs box again. I have a dot com toolbar that keeps popping up when i type a wrong URL and the computer is getting slow to do anything. Plus I tried to play Desert Combat a little while ago but textures were disappearing right and left and I kept crashing into things I couldn't see. I need to start backing up everything on my computer so I probably won't get around to the actual reformat till some time next week.
I tried to set up a Tribes 2 server on the new server but it looks like the old Loki install does not work with the newer glibc's. I'll look around some more but it looks like it's not going to be possible to set up a server anymore.
I'm testing out a Ventrilo server to see if it's worthy of being the voice chat of choice for the DOH! Network. Currently the channel is password protected because with the public version you can only have eight people in it. The full version can have up to 200 but is only available to corporations. This may be the reason I switch to another VoIP program but I'll give it a couple of days to fully check it out.
Well Unreal Tournament 2004 is finally out but it looks like it didn't do as well as it could have with the Deathcon crew. A couple of us bought it but have already moved on to other games. I was one of the hold outs who waited for the rush to be over before buying but now I don't feel a need to buy it at all. Not to say it's a bad game. It's just never been one of my favorites. Plus the Linux standalone server is whack and will start one time but then lose all the maps the next time. I was hoping there would be a patch for the server pretty quick but now I don't think i will bother setting one up on Linux. Harpo is working on setting up one on his Windohs box but I'm not sure if this will be much better as the one on DSL Extreme seems to be down a lot when i view the DSLX qstats for it. Try the demo for yourself by downloading it from one of the mirror sites on the official UT2004 website
On a side note, Epic was showing off a demo of the next generation Unreal engine at this year's Game Developer's Conference in San Jose. You can read GameSpy's Behind-the-scenes review of what you can expect here.
The Call of Duty servers seem to be running pretty stable though. Both the Deathcon and DOH! Network servers are running verion 1.3. I wasn't too into the multiplayer version of this one when it first came out but I played a really fun couple of rounds with Johnny Sokko the other day and I'd like to see this game become more popular now. The weapons are a little bit slower pace than Soldier of Fortune II but the action is just as intense. If you haven't tried the two World War II-themed single player demos, Burnville and Dawnville, I highly recommend them. You can get them both from 3D Gamers.
