Work has just announced we are approved to make websites 994 pixels wide because so few people are still viewing our sites on 800x600 resolutions. I'm wondering if I should do a redesign of the DOH! Network to bump it up to 994 also. I don't know if I'd be able to fill all that extra real estate. Hmmmmm...

Thanks to NOPAL the DOH! Network webcam is back online. Now I think I need to overhaul the webcam page.

I mentioned Team Arena (Download the Team Arena demo) the other day and now I am in the mood to play it. I will have to look around for a TA server tonight and see if anybody's playing. I would just start up a server but Team Arena never got a lot of players when I hosted one before.

I am like number 6 on the black list in Need for Speed: Most Wanted (Download the Need for Speed: Most Wanted demo) and am ready to be done with it. The Corvette police cars that start appearing when you reach condition 5 are a pain and I would like to get back to the FPS like FarCry (Download the FarCry demo) so I can finish that and start playing Call of Duty 2 (Download the Call of Duty 2 demo) or F.E.A.R. (Download the F.E.A.R. demo).

Still need to get some servers running. Still working on UT2004 and then next I think I will work on Half-Life 2 (Download the Half-Life 2 demo) and CounterStrike:Source.

DOH! I just read Mako died the other day. Don't remember seeing anything about it on the tv news.

I was close to going off on Punk Buster and how much it sucks because I can't get into my own Call of Duty 2 server but something happened and now the server is working. As much as getting Punk Buster to work sucks, playing with a bunch of cheaters sucks way more so that extra two hours of troubleshooting is worth it in the end. Now I just need to figure out why the server isn't showing up in the in-game browser. I was just refreshing the list of servers and it reminded me of the good old days on dial-up and when it would take like fifteen minutes to refresh the list of Quake 2 servers. That part wasn't really good. I'd be trying to find Shaka Zulu or Sonic Reducer on a server and by the time the servers refreshed and I found them I would join the game and they would have left already. Anyway, check out the Call of Duty 2 server on the DOH! Network Game Servers page to see if anybody is in there and then in the game type 'connect dohnetwork.com' to join the game.

DOH! I got stuck at work last night till 8:30 because the third party developer for one of our sites can't check their work. You ask them to fix something and they send you an update that fixes that issue but creates three new ones. We finally got the site live after I still had to go back and fix one of their files but we are expecting another update to the site today so they will probably screw it all up again.

Why are all the computer motherboards coming out with serial ATA plugs now but all the hard drives and CD-Roms are still all IDE? Come on people!!! Get with the program.

I bought a Linksys WRT54G wireless router last week to see how it would work with my Squeezebox but man! It sucks! They are like fifteen feet apart and there are only two windows between them but the Squeezebox becomes unresponsive if I sit down next to it and it will lose it's connection in the middle of a song for no reason. What's up with that?

I wasn't planning on buying Episode 2 for Half-Life² but check out the trailer for Team Fortress 2. I never played the original Team Fortress but the cartoony look of TF2 looks sweet. I might have to pick up a copy after all.

Blizzard's upcoming expansion for Worlds of Warcraft 'The Burning Crusade' will feature flying mounts. You can take a look at the flying mounts in action by clicking here or check out the official 'Burning Crusade' teaser trailer.

Don't you love when you come into work and the first e-mail you receive says your sweepstakes is broken on the live site and you think to yourself 'But I don't have a sweepstakes on the live site.' Maybe it's just me. Anyway, somebody screwed up a sweepstakes on the live site so that all the new registrants are being dumped into another sweepstakes and it wasn't me. Shweet!

Work on the UT2004 server continues. I made the mistake of going to FileFront to download the patches but they had like twenty different files. I downloaded what I thought I needed and the server was up for a bit but it was using all the default settings. In my attempts to fix it I broke it to where it won't start now. Need to work on it some more.

It's Muffin Friday® tomorrow!! Woohoo!!! The damn bagel company hasn't been bringing any sourdough bagles the last couple of weeks so the every other week muffins are all I have to look forward to. Not that the sourdough bagels even come close to the muffins but the off weeks are just that much worse when there's no sourdough bagels.

Man, this job stuff blows. Coming in every day over and over again. My time is valuable. And then I waste two hours of my non-work time watching a movie like "The Day After Tomorrow?" DOH! I tell ya, all those reviews you've heard that said it was bad are true. I went into it expecting bad acting and it delivered. Plus I thought the effects were supposed to be all that but a couple of times you could see bad model work. And why the heck couldn't they use real wolves? The CGI wolves were poorly done. Hey, don't get me wrong. They were better than anything I coulda done but this is supposed to be a blockbuster movie. Sci-Fi has better effects in their made for TV movies. And speaking of Sci-Fi, next up I am going to watch season one of Battlestar Galactica. I watched the mini-series a while ago and that was pretty good so I am looking forward to watching the whole season.

I still need to get the UT2004 server going. Maybe tonight before Battlestar.

I need a haircut. I was thinking I should just shave my head like Bongoboy did but then I got to thinking. Wouldn't it be crazy if you shaved your head and it turned out you had a third eye on the back of your head but you never knew it was there because it was always closed because there was hair in the way and then when you shaved your head it opened and you could see behind you?

Man! I've become chatty in the last couple of weeks. This is probably the most I've updated the site in like four months. UPDATE: I just looked and I haven't posted this much since December 2004.

DOH! So much for setting up servers. A couple of people loaned me some videos to watch so those will be sucking up all my evening time after the kids go to bed.

I did get a little Need for Speed: Most Wanted in last night though to releave some stress. I'm #6 on the black list right now and am starting to burn out on the game. I'm trying to burn through the events as fast as I can now so I can get back to FarCry and then start F.E.A.R. and Call of Duty 2.

The DOH! Network Unreal Tournament 2004 server is on the server but I have to apply the patch still and then set up the config and that should be good to go. Just gotta find the time.

I need to get a new webcam so I can update the DOH! Network webcam page.

Man, setting up game servers is a lot of work. And this job thing really cuts into my server setting up time. I miss the good old days when I didn't have to work and could have mid-week LANs with Shaka Zulu, Sonic Reducer and Hooka. I managed to get the full retail server file for Unreal Tournament 2004 and the update patch last night. Haven't had a chance to install the update yet though. Once I get the UT server going and all is good with that I was thinking I might add the Unwheel mod and see how that runs since there are no Linux ports for any official driving game. Then maybe I'll set up some Quake 3 and Team Arena. Man that brings back memories of the last LAN Crypt came to. It was egrep and me against Crypt, Shaka, and I believe Grapple and we were playing Headhunter and had no idea where to take the heads for most of the map so you'd see guys running around with like fifteen floating skulls following them around. DOH! Reminiscing just made me want to LAN more than ever.

Anyway, if you want to see what servers I have running or some other servers other people are running or if I'm playing, check out the DOH! Network servers page. I was thinking I need to update that page to include a form/cookie deal where you can add ip's of your own personal favorite servers and they will show up every time you come to the site. Just need to find the time.

For some reason the front half of my left foot feels like I stepped in water with my sock on. It's felt like that for like three days now. Is that a sign or an omen or something? Hmmm...

Thanks to Shacknews.com's file server I've found a copy of the dedicated server for Unreal Tournament 2004 and am in the process of downloading it now. I'm getting ready to just blow off Call of Duty and not install a server of that because it's such a hassle.

Work on getting games working on the server continues. The Call of Duty server is up but Punk Buster keeps kicking me when I try to connect because of an issue that when I look up on the Punk Buster sites says the game can't connect to id Software's site to verify my cd key is legit. Then why when I disable Punk Buster on the server does it let me connect no problem?

I was going to set up an Unreal Tournament 2004 server but the Linux dedicated retail server download seems to have disappeared from all the usual locations I would go to get it in the past.

Tribes 2 was released as a free game like a year ago but I can't set up a server of that either because I can't find a working version of the Loki Update tool.

I did manage to get the latest version of F.E.A.R. working but the version on my gaming machine is not the same version and to upgrade it, I have to install the upgrade on another machine that can't even run the game and then copy all the files over to the gaming machine because I could never install the original game on the gaming machine.

Bongoboy came over for some more LAN abuse again yesterday. We played some more Call of Duty and Need for Speed: Most Wanted. It got me in the mood for a full on LAN but what to play? Everybody's kinda gone their own ways and not everybody has the same games anymore. I have to look into free games and see what's what. I have always had an Enemy Territory server running but nobody ever wants to play that at the LANs. America's Army either. I set up a Tremulous server to see if that's any good. Will have to mess around with that a bit and see how it goes. It's supposed to be a combination of FPS and RTS like Savage and it's powered by the Quake 3 engine. Download it from the official Tremulous site and check it out for yourself on the DOH! Network server.

Have you seen the Cash Call commercials with the old guy that says '...but you have to make the monthly payments'? I hate that stupid commercial. jenjen knows the one I'm talking about over on the Commercials I Hate forum. They play it twice every commercial break on the KTLA morning news every day. It bugs so much I switched to watching a different news channel.

Bongoboy came over for a little LAN action yesterday before he moves and we had a couple of good Need for Speed: Most Wanted races. Couldn't get the Call of Duty server working right though. Finally got it to at least run but then Punk Buster kept booting us for bad guids. doh! We ended up jumping on somebody else's server and that was pretty fun because it was team deathmatch and there were a lot of people playing. My team was worked though because the other team was mostly all the same clan and they were a lot better organized. It was fun anyway but it ticks me off that all my game servers are screwed up or not installed.

I think I need a new tv.

I just noticed I only have a couple of games installed on the server right now because of the hard drive crash I had a couple of months ago. If I were to host a LAN the choice of games would be pretty slim. I should get around to getting all the classics installed and config'ed again.
