DOH! I was playing some F.E.A.R. and doing pretty well when all the sudden I spotted the enemy and he was frozen running in place. I ran over and shot him a few times but no response. After a couple of minutes the game booted me to the menu. I couldn't reconnect so I jumped out and checked the internet connection and it looks to be down. I can see the server fine but can't connect to anything outside. Sent a chat message to NOPAL to see if he could check the network status for me but no response yet. At least I got a screencap of the previous round's final score. You can check it out below or click here for the full screen version.

I finished Need for Speed: Most Wanted last night. I was hoping to take my Fiat Punto all the way to the end but when I got up around the Top 5 spot on the list, the Corvettes were more prevalent and they are hard to knock out of the way so I had to switch up to a heavier car. I used a Corvette I won for a while and then a Lamborghini Gallardo I bought. I switched to an Aston Martin I won when I beat #2 on the Black List and finshed the game with that. The five races against Razor were the most enjoyable of the whole game with the lead switching back and forth several times in each race. It also doesn't hurt that with the excpetion of the drag race I won all the of races on the first try. Some new cars have been unlocked but I haven't checked them out yet. There's also the added incentive of completing some one-off races for more bonus stuff. I think I will take a break from it for a while though before I do any of that. Besides I only have tonight and tomorrow night to finish FarCry before F.E.A.R. Combat is released on Thursday.

I was reading the F.E.A.R. forums a little while ago and the guys there were posting about their best frags and it sounds like F.E.A.R. has a bunch of new weapons I am going to have to get use to. They also had a post asking what was your first online frag and that got me thinking about all the good games I use to have. First frag would have to in Doom and the victim was Sonic Reducer when he called himself Vandor. Most memorable frag? Hmmmm... That would have to be a tie between a couple of months ago on Quake IV demo when I hit a launch pad that shot me across the room and half way across I turned 90° and head shot Bongoboy who was standing at the far end of a hallway as I flew past and playing Elimination on Soldier of Fortune 2 like two years ago at a LAN when Sabre and I were the last two people alive and I threw a grenade to draw attention away from my location but then I came around the corner and he was right there in front of me starting to turn in my direction. I tried to switch weapons but went one too far and came up with a knife. I threw it anyway and killed him before he could shoot. Funniest moment would have to be the Pain Keep mod on the original Quake at any Deathcon LAN. Something about the Can of Beans would have Shaka and I rolling every time.

I've already had a F.E.A.R. server up and running (check it out on the DOH! Network Game Servers page) but nobody to play against on it so hopefully that will change on August 17th. Now if I can just finish FarCry and Need For Speed: Most Wanted before then.

I tried to run a server for Red Orchestra but the Steam install didn't download all the required files like the one that actually starts it and documentation on how to resolve this was hard to find so I just tried playing it on other servers. It's ok but I'll probably just stick to Call of Duty.

Travis Pastrana managed to pull off the fisrt double backflip in X Games competition. Check out the video here. Here's a longer version with more camera angles.

Steam Powered is offering a five day free trial of the Unreal Engine powered World War II FPS Red Orchestra starting tomorrow. Deathcon should be running a server if the config is configured correctly. Check out the DOH! Network Games page to see who's playing. To get Steam and download Red Orchestra, click here.

Hey! The X Games start on Thursday. Will Travis Pastrana land a double backflip in competition? I dunno. Check the official X Games site for the schedule and go watch for yourself, ya scrub!!
