Welcome to the DOH! Network — The Official Website of Johnny Leche.

Well another LAN has drawn to a close. Was a pretty fun one too. I think I will be hoarse tomorrow because my throat is starting to get really sore. Wolfenstein is definitely a LAN game. We played a couple of good rounds of that on the maps we knew. One map had us totally confused as to where we were supposed to be going but the other three were a blast. Team Arena was screwed up with only a couple of people able to connect. I was just playing it like two weeks ago but then tonight, it refused to start up for me even after I reinstalled twice. Enemy Territory would not let me connect to the server because it thought my cd key was the same as the server so I didn't push for a game of that. SoF2 and UT2003 were good for most of the game time today. Thanks to everyone that attended for a fun time and egrep for hosting. Can't wait for the next one.

Well, I got two servers running with the Enemy Territory multiplayer test and what can I say but the net code sucks ass. The servers I set it up on have a high upload speed and can run a 16 player game of Soldier of Fortune or Quake 3 no problem but E.T. even when it was the only game running and with only 10 players brought both servers to their knees. I am all for trying it again when the the full version is released but for now, I'll only run a server at a LAN. Other than that, the game looks hella shweet and I look forward to playing it.

Woot! Tribes 3 news! Although I'm not sure I like the idea of it being built using the Unreal engine. Not that there's anything wrong with the Unreal engine but it wouldn't feel like a Tribes game without the Garage Games Torque engine but I guess those guys are busy making marble games with it. With the Unreal engine, you know it's gonna look hella nice at least. Check out Game Spy's site for the details and some screenshots. Ooooooh screenshots. (Game Spy)

Woot! Wolfenstein Wednesday party people! I'm not actually playing it right now because I am in the middle of downloading the new Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory multiplayer test. If I can get egrep to download it to the servers, I should be able to set up a couple of servers real quick but he's not answering me on IRC so you might have to wait till tomorrow for your Wolfenstein fix.

Both Deathcon and The Bizarre have stats up now for their Soldier of Fortune II servers so if you want to see your scores, go check them out already and stop buggin me.

Check out this slick looking Incredible Hulk trailer. Also coming to the big screen this summer is Jeepers Creepers 2.

Had a blast playing Return to Castle Wolfenstein multi-player tonight. Looks like everybody has got their game installed in the DCon clan finally. Had a hysterical game of free for all that was insane. Then played a round of the beach map from the demo. Very fun game. It will be interesting to see how Enemy Territory is compared to Wolfenstein. I'd like to see an actual free for all mode in the new game since the way we were playing Wolfenstein in ffa mode today didn't track points.

Check out the trailer for S.W.A.T.. There's also a new Charlie's Angels 2 trailer to check out although this one looks like it's going to be really cheesy. I'll have to see it though to see that Enzo Ferrari Demi Moore drives. Oooooh yea.

I downloaded and tried the demos for Devastation and Line of Sight: Vietnam . Devastation is using an advanced Unreal Tournament engine while Line of Site uses a new engine built for it I believe. My impressions of the games is been there, done that. There is nothing new in either game that you haven't seen already. Devastation is using an older engine that looks dated when you jump into the game. The weapons are alright but the sounds are wimpy for what you would expect. The developer has made a note of this and plans to beef up the weapon sounds before the actual release but in a market that is saturated with first person shooters, I don't think this one is going to sell many copies. Line of Site isn't much better. It's another war themed game with nothing new to make a lasting impression. With games like Vietcong and Black Hawk Down recently being released and doing mediocre sales, the developers of Line of Site: Vietnam should look to be selling this title in the bargain bins for under 20 bucks. Nothing personal against the games but there are too many games of the same style out there and they would have to do something prety spectacular to make a blip on the FPS radar. If you're looking to buy a first person shooter, you would do better to pick up Unreal Tournament 2003 or Quake 3 Arena for an over-the-top, no holds barred shooters or Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix for a military style shooter.

Woohoo! Get you Wolfenstein groove on! We could see a multi-player demo of Enemy Territory, the add-on for Return to Castle Wolfenstein, some time in the next week. Hopefully it isn't Wednesday so we can get our Wednesday Wolfenstein game on. Not sure where everybody is getting their info from but they all seem to have the same blurb from Activision's Hellchick and nothing else. It goes a little something like this...

We're currently doing a private beta of a Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory test. This test will have one map and we're planning on releasing it sometime in the next week. Stay tuned, we'll have more info for you as we get closer to wrapping up the private beta.

Players will NOT need Return to Castle Wolfenstein to play Enemy Territory (or the ET test we're releasing soon). ET is a free stand-alone game, so anyone who wants to play will be able to download it.

I heard it first on Action Trip. (Action Trip)

Possible DCon regulars on tap for tomorrow night's Wolfenstein game should be Subotai, Grumpy Girl, Shaka Zulu, Lil Trooper and me, Johnny Leche. Nobody else in the gang have managed to get theirs working yet.

The official site for GTA: Vice City for the PC is nw open. You can check that out here. (Action Trip)

Well I must be getting really good at Soldier of Fortune II because a bunch of players tonight were convinced I was cheating. For those not in the know, there are cheat codes for games like the one I play that can aim for you so you don't need to have any skill. I hate that cheating crap as much as anybody else. That's why I enabled anti-cheat software on the two servers I set up. These kids that play the games now think they are the best players around and when they get schooled, everybody must be cheating. I should just ban them all.

Some of the Deathcon gang have been trying to get games of Return to Castle Wolfenstein going on Wednesday night. If you're in a Wolfenstein mood, check the game server pages and jump in for a few rounds. The battles usually begin around 8 or 9.

Speaking of Wolfenstein, there's an interview on the Computer and Video Games website with the Splash Damage guys that are putting together the free Wolfenstein expansion, Enemy Territory. The interview gives a lot of interesting info on the mod that is due out some time this summer. (Action Trip)

The official trailer for the biggest movie of the summer is now available for download and it is awesome! Check it for yourself by clicking here. (Mrblue365R)

Heard some people saying that a lot of Soldier of Fortune 2 servers were lagging or booting people to spectator mode and junk. Didn't see any of that on the Deathcon WAN servers but the admin abilities were acting up. Then I couldn't kill the Bizarre server to restart it.

Boot it up. The third episode of the Animatrix, 'A Detective Story', is now online for your viewing pleasure. (Action Trip)

DOH! Spent some time trying some video capturing of my old home movies but the quality is so bad that it doesn't digitize too well. The original Mike Myers movie I did with Pete the Meat is too dark. I'll have to do a version with director commentary so you know what's going on half the time. The second episode at the supermarket is a little bit better and a lot shorter so that may show up some time soon on the site. The bike tricks are well lit but the quality is terrible. I'll try and get some of those up so you can see what I did in my spare time about 10-15 years ago. Has it really been that long?

Had some home movies playing on the webcam earlier. have to spend some time doing video captures this weekend of my bike tricks and junk and post those so you can check em out. Just have to find them. That's why you only got to watch the Amazing Barry rebuilding the engine on my Z or changing the frame on his truck.

Woohoo! Wolfenstein Wednesday in the houzizzle ma navigs!!!!! Had a little 1 on 1 match with Shaka that was hella fun but very high stress. I hate these games where you have no idea where the next shot is gonna come from. At one point I was waiting to call in an airstrike when a smoke grenade landed right next to me. Had to run fast to outrun the airstrike and i forgot what key I bound to sprint. Managed to survive only to have Shaka get a bead on me and bust a cap in me. Shaka won in score but I managed to run the clock out so good game all around.

Then I jumped into the Unreal Tournament 2003 server and played that for a bit. I must be getting good because some other player asked if I was cheating. Woohoo! People think I'm usin' a bot!!!

I play all these fighting games but let's not forget that the reason I can is because of the United States military, the kick assiest soldiers in the whole world*. They rock and I wouldn't want to be in their boots.

* Except that guy that through the grenades into the tents full of sleeping soldiers.
