The full version of Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is now available for download on pretty much every file downloading site so grab your copy quick before the wait time gets really long. This is a complete game by itself that does not require you to own the original Return to Castle Wolfenstein and is completely free. You can download this one file and be playing against Shaka, Grumpy Girl, NOPAL and the rest of the DCon gang in no time. I'll try to get a server running on Deathcon and the Bizarre as soon as possible but if the net code is still as bad as it was in the demo, don't be surprised if it is dumped in the trash pretty quick. While I am waiting for the downloads to finish I thought I would mention a new mod I just saw for Grand Theft Auto III. I usually play a game through to the finish and then put it on the shelf and don't like to play it twice but this new mod looks like it might force me to reinstall GTA3 to check it out. It changes all the cars and adds new scenery to the cities. Check out the screenshots for yourself on realgta.net (File Planet)
If you didn't believe me before, here's more proof that NOPAL is shweet on me. Check out the all new Johnny Leche Dress-Up Game!
It's that time again. Super Trailer Tuesday!!!! This summer is shaping up to be a great one for horror movie buffs. Early reviews of Freddy vs Jason are looking positive and now there's Jeepers Creepers 2, Wrong Turn and 28 Days Later. Another movie of note is Cabin Fever
E3 was pretty much a disappointment this year. No real breakout games to look forward to.
The new Medal of Honor looks like it will be worth playing. A lot of big action and nice visuals, it will be the one to buy this year.
Halo 2 looks exactly like the original Halo. Nice graphics but I was expecting them to do something to set it apart. Looks like most of the game is cinematics with not much playing to do. And aren't they planning on releasing Halo 2 for the consoles this year and Halo 1 for the PC? They should take the PC straight to Halo 2 and skip the first one.
Half-Life 2 looks like it's gonna be hella shweet. I may actually play it this time. The original was looking so dated but it is the most popular online FPS for the last three years. It will be interesting to see if all the Half-Lifers jump to the new version when it is released.
Doom III is going to be the game to have when it is released. The visuals in the trailer are incredible. Hopefully John Carmack will be able to tweak the engine to allow for large multiplayer games but right now, it can only manage a 4 player cooperative game.
Other than that there was a lot of the same old stuff. The fighter flight sims were out this year and gladiator-style slasher games were in. I played one that looked nice but I had the strategy figured out pretty quick and was blowing through levels like nothing. I'd link all these games but now I am off to play Soldier of Fortune II.
Atari officially announced Unreal Tournament 2004 today. I mentioned a little while ago that Tribes 3 was going to be based on the UT2003 engine and it looks like the guys at Epic liked where the game was going so much that they ganked all the Tribes ideas back to put into their own game. So UT2004 will be a completely new game that you will have to go out and buy that is basically UT2003 with some tweaks to the map sizes and vehicles. And everybody that went out and bought UT2003 has a 3-pack of coasters. Joy! (Shack News)
Ohhhhhh yeaaaa!!! Super Trailer Tuesday!! Check out the trailer for Freddy vs. Jason and no this ain't no Freddy Got Fingered 2. (QuickTime)
DCon clan appearance schedule for this week. NOPAL and I will be making a guest appearance at E3 on Friday and Shaka and maybe Grumpy and Subotai will be reprazentin on Wednesday. Come and hang out and get your picture taken with us.
Speaking of the DCon clan, I have been seeing lately that the clan is not getting any lovin' from the people on the servers. Some of the clan are really good players and are accused of cheating regularly because they are so good. And then today I see a guy playing with the clan tag '-DCon- sucks'. If you don't like us so much people, don't play on the -DCon- servers. If you want to become a better player though, jump in and take notes.
I set up the new version of OSP on my Soldier of Fortune II server but I don't think it will make it to the Deathcon or Bizarre servers. There just isn't enough to make it worth forcing people to download the OSP client. About the only really useful feature is the real-time clock on your screen so you can see what time it is. Other features include a new player hud, a new background when you pull down the console and a bunch of team captain fixes. Nothing the average player will have any need for.
Been getting behind on my updates lately doing other stuff and playing too many games. Gotta try and stay near the top on the Deathcon Soldier of Fortune stats page. I was working on converting the stats program to work with Wolfenstein but so far all I have gotten is the guns set up. Would be nice to see how many soldiers the medics have restored and junk too. Just haven't had the time. Was thinking it would be really easy to do for Quake 3 so maybe I will set up one for the Quake servers first.
