Wow! Just checked out the trailer for Unreal Tournament 2004. Pretty impressive looking. Big time vehicle combat and insane space battles. Should be in stores this fall. Check the trailer for yourself at File Planet (free registration required). (Action Trip)
Also check out the new video with in-game footage of Battlefield: Vietnam. Looks like they have really been tweaking the Battlefield engine. There's no release date set yet for this title. (Action Trip)

Shaka has officially called it quits on the website when he asked me to remove the link to his site over the weekend.
The official QuickTime version of the Kill Bill trailer is now online over at QuickTime.com
Just played a round of Desert Combat v0.4j for Battlefield 1942. Nice looking mod. Took like an hour to play one round though and I came in like 5 minutes after it started. Started feeling ill towards the end. Did pretty well though. Managed to place in the top 3. Gotta work on my upclose fighting though. A couple of times I got owned because I couldn't get my crosshairs on the enemy in time. I even have my mouse set as slow as possible but all that seems to do is slow the mouse speed when I am looking through menus or trying to move the gun on a tank.
My connection at DSL Extreme stepped down from admining the game server and the new guy changed the password on me. My buddy said he'd hook me up with the new guy so hopefully I can get back in there and admin the Soldier of Fortune II and Enemy Territory servers. The Enemy Territory server already crashed and I can't restart it. The SoF2 one seems pretty stable and usually only crashes when a new Punk Buster update goes out. I won't be able to reset the stats at the end of the month though.
Almost there. Been waiting in line for two hours to download the Desert Combat v0.4j and Eve of Destruction mods for Battlefield 1942 and the multi-player demo for Medal of Honor: Breakthrough. Still have like twenty minutes to go before all three will start downloading. My normal download site isn't carrying any of them for some reason. I downloaded Medal of Honor like a week ago but when I tried to install, the exe was corrupt. Doh! But ya gots to have them in case you were having a LAN and wanted som cool new stuff to play.
The full trailer for Kill Bill: Part 1 is now online. Sadly it is not in QuickTime format. Check it here in Real and Media player formats. (The Movie Page)
One of the Deathcon crew had a bad day yesterday when he was let go from his place of employment. Here's to hoping he finds something new and better quick. I know from experience that being out of a job sucks although the one positive was that while I was unemployed, I learned how to do HTML and that got me the job I have now. Oh and the LANs with Shaka and Sonic Reducer didn't hurt either.
A new patch for Enemy Territory was released by Splash Damage a couple of hours ago. It fixes some server and client issues. You can read about the new patch on the official site. And for anybody who hasn't tried Enemy Territory yet, you can download the full version for free online. Click here for a list of sites to download from. (Action Trip)
EA Games has released a demo for the latest installment of Medal of Honor. It's called Medal of Honor: Breakthrough and it looks shweet! Two maps are included in the demo as well as a new game mode called liberation. Take a look at these screenshots. Ooooh. Doesn't that look nice? What are you waiting for soldier?! Get downloading! There's a trailer online for Halle Berry's new movie Gothika. You can check that out here if you have Real Player or Windows Media Player. (The Movie Page)
My new favorite show* is in the news and it looks like it will be back for another season. Scroll down to September 7 for my original Newlyweds post. (Shack News)
Shweet! Check out the new House of the Dead trailer. (QuickTime)
Just checked out the demo for Starsky and Hutch. It's not Driver (my all-time favorite driving game) but it is pretty good. It is close in that the car handles a lot like the cars in Driver but it's not as easy to destroy. The demo gives you 4 minutes to stop another car. I'm guessing ramming the car with Starsky's Gran Torino or by Hutch shooting it so a lot of buttons are required. The player has to control the car at full speed while aiming and shooting. I've found the joystick/mouse config works best but will take some work to get proficient with. Along the way there are powerups and special effects that can be activated by Hutch shooting them. That's a nice little bonus over Driver. You can activate big jumps off car carriers or get speed boosts and sticky tires. My only beef with the demo is that it's way too short. It should have been a whole level rather than just four minutes although the demo has done what it's supposed to do by getting me wanting more. And sadly there is no multi-player mode. Guess I'll have to play Midnight Club II for that. Check out the demo for yourself by downloading it from 3D Gamers. (3D Gamers)
This Halloween you can see the classic Alien in an all-new Director's Cut in theaters. Check out the trailer on IGN. Woohoo! Scary scary. (movie-page.com)
I've been working on an elimination map for Soldier of Fortune II but there are some items in the map that should be removed but they are invisible and can't be selected in the map making program. It kinda burned me out on making the map. I will have to go in and move everything in the map over to get the questionable items outside of the map area. Luckily they are close to the edge so they won't have to move too far but still a hassle just the same.
What are the DCon crew up to as of late? Shaka's having server problems but he should be back up and running any minute now. NOPAL's working on a new 3D site but that's still a month or two out. Subotai's playing way too much Tron, Grumpy's got tons of wedding prep to do and Grap and egrep are doing a lot of reading as of late. Realyze is watching football and Harpo's probably hanging out on an Unreal or Quake 3 server. I have been trying to get into the SoF2 server for a little bit lately but been spending a lot of time hangin' out with the family.
Battlefield 1942: Secret Weapons of World War II hit store shelves today. I think about half of the DCon crew is off playing that. I'm still hanging around on the Soldier of Fortune II servers but haven't had as much time as I would like to play lately.
Full Spectrum Warrior has been confirmed for the PC. Woot! That looks like one shweet military game. Read the full story on GameSpot. (Action Trip)
